Located 100 yards from the green on hole no. 1 at renowned Sweetens Cove Golf Course, No Laying Up has created the perfect getaway for avid golfers. The Birdhouse is a  six bedroom ranch-style house perched high above the golf course and is perfect for large groups looking to stay and play golf at one of America's most unique golf desitnations.

Within The Birdhouse, patrons will find plenty of space to rest, relax, and enjoy time with friends and family after a great day of golf. The house places an emphasis on comfort and function but was also designed as a real world extension of No Laying Up's community of avid golfers. Upstairs, each room is designed by a different member of No Laying Up to spark some cheap laughs and but also create a sense of familiarity.

Outside the house, architect Rob Collins, the co-designer of Sweetens Cove, has created "the 10th hole" a teebox measuring 110 yards to the center of no. 1 green to give visitors a chance to play a little bit of "bonus golf" while hanging out on the laid back front deck overlooking the course.

The basement of The Birdhouse has two additional guest rooms, and "Horace's Place," a man cave named honoring Horace, the longtime owner of the house. Horace watched the entire transformation from Sequatchie Valley GC to Sweetens Cove play out in real time from his front porch. The basement unit will rent separately once it comes online post-renovation.

Ideal Stay

Stayed here early may for a Monday and Tuesday night to play Sweetens. Got in late Monday night and hit glow balls, with guys staying downstairs, across to the first green until late in the dark from the tee box at the Birdhouse. The shed is a 2min drive or a 5-10min walk so super easy for playing Sweetens. Wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Old guys golfing

4 old pals stayed 2 nights - Burger Open @ Sweeten's Cove x Wahlburgers on Friday after McLemore on Thursday. Perfect location and accommodations. Already looking forward to a return trip!

Oh Boy We Like That

From the time we pulled into the driveway Friday, the wolves howling from Icarito's room set the tone for the weekend. As the lone refugee in a group of 8, I had high hopes for the Birdhouse and it somehow continued to exceed my expectations. The amenities are exactly what is needed for a guy's golf trip and the location couldn't be any better. - The themed rooms are awesome. As a Cincinnati Red's fan, I had to take Big Randy's room. Waking up with Joey Votto staring down at me each morning got me fired up for the first tee. - Hanging out on the 10th tee in the evenings with a few COLD BEERS may have been a highlight of the trip. We left behind some glow in the darks balls and glow sticks for the next folks and I highly recommend setting them up on the green and swinging away. Hitting the JAWS wedges on the 10th tee that were in the garage has me wanting to switch over from my Vokey's. Guerilla marketing does work... - Food options are limited, however we had Domino's delivered to the course and dined at the local Mexican restaurant Friday. We also ventured up to Top of the Rock Saturday for dinner and would recommend. Next time we will utilize the grills at the house as well. All in all, we couldn't have asked for a better time. My only regret is not staying longer. Our group trip has rotated between courses and cities for 5+ years, but Sunday morning we all agreed that we will only be coming back to Sweetens and staying at the Birdhouse moving forward. Thanks again to the NLU guys for being so accommodating and setting up such an awesome place. 10/10 would recommend, you won't be disappointed.

I remember seeing this house on my first visit to sweetens and saying "how cool would it be to stay there" Lot's of people talk about doing cool things. NLU does them. This place is legit. We had a NewClub group in both the upstairs and downstairs and everyone said the same thing; Beds were great, everything was clean, the common areas gave us plenty of room to hang out. Oh, and the front yard is the #7 best 9 hole golf course on the planet. Bret was easy to reach when we had a question. Top notch experience.

Buddies Trip

I cannot by any means understate how perfect this home was if you are absolutely crazy about golf. Waking up to the mowers on the 1st hole at Sweetens Cove all weekend, are you kidding me? Settling matches on the 10th tee? Is that any good? Every single touch with the place was perfect and incredibly conducive to having an awesome time with your friends. We will come back any and every time we are able to get passes at Sweetens. Thanks for an awesome and unforgettable weekend!

Bring your glow-in-the-dark golf balls

We had a group of 8 and stayed 2 nights, Sat-Mon. This place was designed by golfers for golfers. While you may spend most of your time across the street at Sweetens (which easily lives up to the hype), they did not skimp on the comforts of home at the Birdhouse. The kitchen has everything you need to cook breakfast, grill burgers, and shot glasses/cups to pour one or six shots of your favorite whiskey. More than enough pots/pans, silverware, regular and paper plates, trash bags, coffee filters, condiments, ice, etc. The beds are all extremely comfortable with high quality comforters. The laundry room is stocked with extra bed sheets and towels. There are plenty of couches, chairs, and common area space. The TV is set up with a Roku and all the streaming options. Great golf décor also litters the house. The Birdhouse also has your essential non-essential needs covered. The garage in the lower level has been turned into a chipping/putting area with balls & clubs lying around. In case you didn’t lose enough money on the course, there’s a poker set upstairs. And lastly, the 10th hole was the highlight of the house. The night we arrived, we set up chairs, coolers, a speaker, and hit balls for a couple hours. As the sun set, we opened the glow-in-the-dark balls (purchased on Amazon). Nothing better than hitting it inside of 6 feet under the stars. Just make sure you repairs your ball marks the next morning. And you’re not taking advantage of the location if you don’t play #1 your 2nd time through and then run up the hill to refill your yeti. The Birdhouse easily earns 5/5 stars. We are already planning our next trip to Sweetens and won't do it without staying here.

The absolute best customer service. Very accommodating in any request. Obviously the course and location is great but what makes this special are the people!!

You'll be glad you did

We came for a 2-day, 2-night, 6-buddies weekend. - The house is everything you need and would undoubtedly be comfortable for 8. - We were pleasantly surprised how much common hangout space there was. - The location is unbeatable, of course. - Sweetens is better than what you've read/seen online. - We ended up settling a few hours worth of wagers on the Yard hole. It's one of a kind. Pro tip: If you park a car just right on the driveway, the headlights will illuminate 1 green for a true "it's much darker out here than it looks on TV" experience.

Perfect Setup

Having the house just makes an already great trip infinitely better. Getting to the course consists of walking across a street and up the 1st hole from the green (peep hole locations early). Loaded up the fridge upon arrival. Made food/drink reloads seamless in between unlimited 9's. Hit your approach, run up the driveway, grab a few bevs if you're walking or refill the cooler if you're in carts, and then go three jack. Beds were actually incredibly comfortable but don't plan on sleeping much as the adrenaline high never subsides. Just booked a return trip for next spring. Was hoping to keep the benefits of the house a secret for selfish reasons but Tron just asked me to give a review...We love Sweetens for what it is but our group seems to have settled on the opinion that we'll only go as long as we get the house as well.

Fix 3 ballmarks every time you play the 10th hole.

Stayed this past weekend with a group of Refugees and the Birdhouse could not possibly have been more perfect for a weekend of golf. The guys really knocked it out of the park getting the place ready to go. The decor is fun and well done and the place is just what you need - a space to hang, a bed to sleep in and even nice cold A/C when you are grabbing a snack or drink in between loops at Sweetens. Will absolutely be back as soon as possible and expect this to be an overwhelming success. Great for any group that wants to check out Sweetens and would recommend Sewanee up the road for an additional day of golf - different types of courses, but both the types of places that just have you at hello. Let me just add, that coffee on the porch watching them cut the double pins on the 1 green while the sun comes up and the mist hovers over the mountains in the back ground was spiritual. #getinvolved with the Birdhouse - you won't regret it.
